Responsibilities

Andover’s Street Department is responsible for the maintenance of over 101 miles of local streets, as well as sidewalks and drainage ditches throughout the City. The street department strives to make our streets and sidewalks safe for Andover residents in all types of weather.

Other duties include the inspection and maintenance of roughly 2,900 street signs, 10 traffic lights, 8 school zone lights and 4 signalized crosswalks. 

The department also has seasonal responsibilities, including the City's outdoor holiday decorations and snow and ice control in the winter, as well as street sealing in the summer.

Weather Clean-Up

Unpredictable Kansas weather keeps our Street crews busy. The Street Department is the heart and soul of clean-up efforts, and the city applauds its dedication and hard work to keep everyone safe, especially in icy conditions. Without the hard work of our Street Department employees, our city and our lives would not run quite as smoothly.
