SP-2005-29:
Review the sign plan for Tuesday Morning located at 536 N. Andover Rd. Brian Kirkland of Miracle Signs presented the plan.
He said this business takes the place of part of the old IGA space in the Plaza Shopping Center.
David
Martine asked if the letters are red.
Brian stated they are red faces with a black return, and will be illuminated.
He said this signage is the same as the other Tuesday Morning stores in Wichita.
Don
Kimble said the signage of 3’ tall and 30’ long is way too big. Brian said it
is appropriate considering the total square feet of the store. Les said there
is a 5% maximum which would be 95 square feet. Les stated this proposed sign
is only 90 square feet. Don Kimble continued to be concerned about the size
of the sign.
There
was general discussion about the size of signage for existing tenants in the Plaza Shopping Center.
Doug
Allison stated the signage in this shopping center has recently been changed
to standardize them. Les said the other signs are illuminated box signs.
There
was further discussion about the actual size of this sign. Larry Crouse said
this store sits back from Andover Road and is the largest tenant in the
center.
David
Martine asked if the property owner
has approved the plan for the sign as presented. Brian said he assumes so
because he is only the subcontractor for this project.
There
was discussion about making this a box sign to conform to the style of box of
the others in the shopping center. Doug Allison said that type of sign would
not look as nice as what is presented.
Jeff
Bridges asked if this sign is approved as presented, will there be enough
space left for future tenants. Les Mangus said the 95 square feet maximum
signage would be just for the 76’ of store frontage they occupy. Les included
this portion of the building is the tallest part of the Plaza.
Brian
Kirkland said the grand opening for Tuesday Morning is Monday, November 7,
2005. He is requesting approval so he can obtain building permits tomorrow.
Don Kimble said this will be the largest sign in the Plaza by over 10’.
Larry
Crouse made a motion to approve the sign plan as presented. Doug Allison
seconded the motion. Motion carried 4/1 with Don Kimble in opposition.
