SP-2006-15:
Review the landscape plans for the Cornerstone entry monument sites located
at the intersections of Cornerstone Parkway and Andover Road & Cornerstone Parkway and 21st Street in the Cornerstone Addition.
From
Les Mangus Memo: As requested by the Committee at the last meeting, a
landscaping plan has been submitted for review for the proposed entry
monuments for the Cornerstone Addition on 21st St. and Andover Rd. The monument on 21st Street is limited to a maximum height of 10 feet
in the B-2 Neighborhood Business District, whereas the Andover Rd. monument
is limited to 15 feet. I have contacted the designer about the matter, and a
variance has been applied for, but not yet granted to rectify the issue.
Otherwise Staff has no objection to the plan as submitted.
Monica
Palyash from MKEC presented this landscape plan for the applicant. She said
the landscape plans have been submitted which show plants with assorted
textures and colors to accent the signs. There will be berms behind the signs
to help raise the pine trees to be more visible. The Coppercrest and
Whispering Pines will be the subdivision names on the interior monument
signs.
David
Martine asked if this is a masonry or concrete wall. Monica said it will be
concrete block with a stone façade to it.
David
Martine asked if the signs would be illuminated. Monica said they will have
ground lights.
Don
Kimble asked if the planting areas are irrigated. Monica said it is not noted
on the plans but all plantings will be irrigated. Don stated the final plans
submitted to Les for building permits need to have the documentation of
irrigation on it.
David
Martine asked if the Andover Road and 21st Street monuments are
identical. Monica said yes they are with the logo feature being visible from
both sides.
David
Martine asked if there are any concrete walls on the site along Andover Road or 21st Street. Monica said no there are none.
Don
Kimble made a motion to approve the landscape plan as presented with the
condition of the irrigation notation being added to the final plan submitted
for building permits. Clark Nelson seconded the motion. Motion carried 4/0.
