Severe Weather Shelter

If you don't have a place to go during severe weather, Andover has several places where you can "weather" the storm!


Did you know the restrooms in Central Park also serve as a tornado shelter, 250 mph safe room? This shelter is open 24/7. This facility was paid for with a voter approved temporary sales tax which was in effect October 2015 - September 2018.

The  restroom in Central Park, located at 1607 E Central Ave. is open and accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

The shelter at City Hall, located at 1609 E Central Ave. is open to the public during the business hours of Monday - Friday: 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

The shelter at the Andover Public Library, located at 1511 E Central Ave. is also open to the public during business hours:

Monday - Thursday: 9 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Friday: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Saturday: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
