Redbud Trail
LET’S ROLL!
...Or run, or walk! However you roll, the Redbud Trail is perfect for enjoying the great big, beautiful outdoors!
The Redbud is a 6-mile trail that runs from 159th St. East, (1 mile west of Andover), and currently dead ends at Highway 54/400, (about 4 miles east of Andover). The trail is a mix of concrete and packed limestone surfaces, suitable for walking, running and nearly any bicycle. The Redbud Trail is part of The Red Bud Path that originates inside Wichita at the I-135 canal route. The two routes combined are just short of 16 miles.
Andover Augusta Rail Trail Initiative (AARTI) is the nonprofit caretaker of the 'Bud. AARTI has a highly-valued partnership with Andover Parks and Recreation in helping to maintain a safe and fun trail. AARTI operates as an all-volunteer organization. Vegetation maintenance happens the second Saturday of every month during the spring, summer, and fall. We'd LOVE to have your help. Click HERE if you'd like more information.
2025 will be an exciting year for the Redbud as the bridge across 54/400 will be installed. This will kick off a final push to finish the final four miles of the trail to Augusta! Funds are already in place for the second bridge across the Whitewater River. AARTI will kick off a capital campaign for the railbed conversion.
In the not-so-distant future, you'll be able to have breakfast in Andover and lunch in Augusta - or vice versa!
