Residential Building Permits
All new construction permits, for fences, drive approaches, single- and two-family houses, and any structural additions must undergo internal plan review. Applications should include a Site Plan including the following information:
- An aerial map of the entire parcel, showing the primary or proposed structure;
- Distances between the structure and at least two (2) property lines;
- Any setbacks or easements that may restrict the location of the structure.
There is no additional fee for residential plan review of this nature.
Staff may contact you for additional materials during the plan review process. Submit requested materials promptly so that your permit is not delayed.
Nonresidential and Multi-Family Building Permits
Plan review for nonresidential (commercial) building projects, as well as multi-tenant residential structures such as apartments, is performed concurrently by both the City of Andover and the MABCD. Attach the plan set to your permit application to the City, and then submit to the MABCD for their code review.
To find the MABCD plan review portal, click HERE. Be sure to note in your application that your project is in Andover, so that you are not charged an additional plan review fee! The City of Andover collects all plan review fees, and will notify the MABCD to begin their review after all such fees have been collected.
The City of Andover will not submit your plans to the MABCD on your behalf.
